Announcing the Apigit Enterprise, with Single Sign-On (SSO)

We are delighted to announce that the Apigit Enterprise is now open, and it includes a highly requested feature - single sign-on (SSO)!

As Enterprise user has grown in popularity among thousands of organizations, we've seen an increase in our average number of users per team. Our product includes features such as customized API documentation and mock servers, ensuring the development of better and faster APIs. However, we've received feedback from customers asking for additional tools to help them manage and scale their teams. In response, we've added features into Enterprise that provide better team management, the ability to customize workflow processes, as well as collaboration tools for faster internal communications.

We're thrilled to announce the release of our single sign-on (SSO) feature in beta today! SSO is one of the most requested features by our enterprise customers, so we are excited to provide this added security and convenience.

What is SSO?

Single Sign-On (SSO) services provide an efficient way to manage team identity across different Software as a Service (SaaS) products. With SSO, users can access multiple accounts with a single login, eliminating the need for multiple passwords and making authentication more secure and convenient.

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication service that allows users to access multiple applications using only one set of credentials (e.g., name/email and password). SSO authenticates the user the first time they log in and then provides ongoing access to all the applications they have been given the rights to use during the same session, without having to re-enter the credentials each time.

Example of Single Sign-On (SSO): Google’s implementation of login for its products, such as Gmail, YouTube, etc., allows users who are logged in to one of its products to be automatically logged in to all of its services.

What are the major protocols?

  • OpenID Connect
  • Facebook Connect
  • SAML
  • Microsoft Account (formerly known as Passport)
  • LDAP
  • Kerberos

What are the advantages of SSO?

  • Enhanced User Experience: SSO eliminates the need for users to remember and enter multiple usernames and passwords, making it more convenient and user-friendly.

  • Improved Security: SSO allows for centralized authentication and access control, reducing the risk of weak or reused passwords. It enables organizations to enforce stronger security measures, such as multi-factor authentication, and monitor user access more effectively.

  • Time and Cost Savings: SSO reduces the time spent on logging in and managing credentials for multiple applications, leading to increased productivity. It also lowers support costs associated with password resets and user account management.

  • Streamlined Access to Applications: Users can seamlessly access multiple applications and systems with a single set of credentials, eliminating the need to sign in separately for each application. This simplifies the user experience and improves efficiency.

  • Centralized User Provisioning and Deprovisioning: SSO allows for centralized management of user accounts, making it easier to provision and deprovision access to applications and systems when employees join or leave an organization. This enhances administrative efficiency and reduces the risk of unauthorized access.

  • Seamless Integration with Identity Providers: SSO can integrate with various identity providers, such as Active Directory, LDAP, or cloud-based identity services, enabling organizations to leverage their existing authentication infrastructure.

Overall, SSO improves user convenience, security, productivity, and administrative efficiency, making it a valuable solution for organizations managing multiple applications and systems.

Which identity providers are supported?

Apigit supports Single Sign-On (SSO) for Enterprise teams using the SAML 2.0 standard. Our current SSO providers are Okta, OneLogin, and G Suite.
